Stop Global Warming College Tour Announced!

Laurie David & Sheryl Crow Announce “Stop Global Warming College Tour”
Activist & Singer-songwriter to Mobilize College Students around Global Warming
Duo to Bring Message from Americans to Washington, DC on Earth Day 2007

Los Angeles, CA – Following reports of overwhelming scientific consensus that the globe is definitely warming, humans are definitely causing it, and we must act now to solve it, global warming activist Laurie David and Grammy Award winning singer-song writer Sheryl Crow announced today that the stopglobalwarming.org “Virtual March” is hitting the road.

The multi-city tour will begin on Monday, April 9th in Dallas, Texas, where the duo plan to shine a harsh CFL light on the Dallas-based TXU Corporation, which is trying to fast track 11 dirty coal burning power plants. Texas already dumps more CO2 into the atmosphere than any other state in the nation and TXU’s plan would more than double that.

The activist & entertainer will visit 12 cities across the Southeastern United States in a bio-diesel bus to motivate college students to become part of the movement to stop global warming and demand solutions from themselves, their schools and their country.

The multi-city tour will continue on to select cities including:  College Station, TX; Baton Rouge, LA; New Orleans, LA; Birmingham, AL; Auburn, AL; Gainesville, FL; Atlanta, GA; Charlottesville, VA; Nashville, TN; Chapel Hill, NC; College Park, MD and Washington, DC.

The 90-minute presentation will include remarks by David, a short performance by Crow, clips from An Inconvenient Truth, humorous clips from top comedians, and a dialogue with students.

“History proves that college students have the ability to be the driving force in large-scale social change and now -- more than ever -- is the time for students across the country to become global warming activists,” said Laurie David, founder of stopglobalwarming.org and author of Stop Global Warming: The Solution is You!

“The more I learn about global warming, the more I know that we all have to do something to be a part of the solution.  I am thrilled Laurie & I have the opportunity to go on the road and combine our efforts to educate the next generation on how they can make a difference,” said Sheryl Crow.

The tour will conclude on April 22nd, 2007 at the George Washington University Smith Center where special guests will join the two for a celebration of Earth Day.  The following day, Crow & David will deliver the clear, resounding message of millions of Americans – from those they meet on the road and those who have joined the virtual march – directly to the halls of Congress:  Americans want immediate federal action to stop global warming.

Stopglobalwarming.org is a call to action for Americans who want their voices counted about their concern for global warming.  Over 636,000 individual marchers from all 50 states including 31 U.S. legislators, mayors and governors, have joined the virtual march to acknowledge that the U.S. is feeling the impact of global warming right now and to demand solutions to the problem.   This historic movement has galvanized support from leading scientists, political and religious leaders, corporations, and individual marchers.  During the two-week tour, college students, university leaders, faculty and staff will be encouraged to join the virtual march and have their voice counted as the bus rolls through their campus.
